Junior Software Engineer | Core Tech | Python/Rust

BlockTech is hiring a Junior Software Engineer to join its Core team in Amsterdam.

Core owns the systems that keep our trading accurate: positions, PnL, instruments, hedging, and the data flowing between them.

In this role, you'll work across Rust and Python on systems where correctness is the whole point. One year of commercial experience is enough to start.

BlockTech is an algorithmic trading firm headquartered in Amsterdam, with a second office in Singapore. We specialize in market making and trade cryptocurrency derivatives and spot markets globally, using our own capital. We're growing fast and expanding into new markets.

The Core team owns the systems behind every number our traders and risk team rely on, across exchanges and asset classes. We work in Rust and Python, with Grafana and PostgreSQL alongside.

What will you do?

You will work on the systems that keep our trading operation accurate at every level. Across exchanges and asset classes, your work determines whether the numbers our traders and risk team rely on are correct.

You will:

• Own the books. Maintain and evolve our position, trade, and PnL systems so they stay accurate across every venue we trade on.

• Build the platform that supports trading. Design services that handle real-time exchange flow with the throughput and reliability our quoting and hedging depend on.

• Own the data flows. Operate the public and private pipelines that bring market prices, account state, and trade events into our systems in real time.

• Integrate new venues. Deliver exchange and prime-broker integrations end to end: protocol, account model, settlement, reconciliation, and surveillance.

• Model the instrument universe. Own the systems that describe every instrument we trade (lifecycle, expiry, margin, RFQs, fast-path quoting), where both correctness and latency matter.

• Build self-healing systems. Develop the detection and repair flows that identify position discrepancies and correct them automatically.

• Build hedging infrastructure. Design and refine the gamma and delta hedging systems our trading strategies depend on.

• Deliver reporting. Provide the data internal stakeholders and regulators need: PnL breakdowns, trade surveillance, treasury accounting, and compliance.

What we're looking for

You'll need:

• 1+ years of commercial experience as a software engineer.

• Breadth across the stack. You're comfortable moving between a Rust service, a Python data pipeline, and a complex production issue, and choosing the right tool for each.

• Familiarity with Grafana and PostgreSQL.

• A critical mind that follows problems through to completion.

• The confidence to work on completely new components.

• A high level of responsibility and ownership.

• Good written and spoken English.

Pay, location, and relocation

• Compensation: a competitive base salary plus a performance bonus based on individual and company results.

• Trading fund: outstanding performance is rewarded with the opportunity to buy into the trading fund.

• Location: On-site at our Amsterdam office

• Visa: BlockTech sponsors the Dutch highly skilled migrant visa.

• Relocation: All-in relocation package and Dutch classes for international hires. Eligible hires may qualify for the 30% ruling.
